I just tried Fidelizer. It seems to be a worthwhile tweak. Most of these computer-side tweaks seem to make not much difference but I'd say Fidelizer (with Foobar) sounds at least as good as Jplay (which had been my previous favorite, albeit by a small margin). The soundstage does seem a touch deeper, with more air between the singers and instruments. Perhaps, more silence between the notes. I think I'll keep using it.

So, my conclusion is that Fidelizer *can* help a well-designed server. I've tried Foobar, JRMC, Jplay, cPlay, Clementine, HQplayer, and attempted XXHighend (twice was unsuccessful to even install the byzantine XXHighend). I was really expecting and hoping Jplay would sound great but it seemed to only make a small improvement over Foobar and only on some songs. Jplay was the "best" I had tried until Fidelizer. To my ears, Fidelizer using Foobar, sounds at least as good and, considering it's freeware, it's a no-brainer.
